Project WeHOPE’s Annual Breakfast Benefit
Join Project WeHOPE as we recognize inspiring community, government, business and volunteer leaders, and supporters who helped make 2017 a success in meeting the needs of the homeless. In addition, you will hear from special speakers and learn about Project WeHOPE’s latest efforts and how you can get involved.
Reserve your free individual ticket below. Or consider being a table sponsor and invite your colleagues and friends. This is a great way for you to share the importance of helping the homeless and work toward a future in which everyone in East Palo Alto and surrounding communities has a home.
Contributions will go toward funding our four major programs at Project WeHOPE, and will be matched 2:1 by The Sobrato Family Foundation. In this $20,000 Challenge Grant from the Sobrato Family Foundation, Project WeHOPE will receive $2 for every dollar donated from a new donor or from an existing supporter whose donation is more than a previous contribution.
So join us on Friday, October 13 at the Elks Lodge in Palo Alto for an inspiring morning.
Our theme this year is Wake-up to HOPE. Mark your calendars and set your alarms!
Join us as a sponsor. It’s a great way to show your support, and you’ll be recognized in our event program. If you’d like to sponsor the event, head over to our Event Sponsorship page. If you have questions, please contact the Event Coordinator, Cheryl Bains at firstname.lastname@example.org. Minimum sponsorship is $2,500. Thank you!
Your donations and support go towards helping fund four critical programs:
1. Supportive/Transitional Housing Program: Provides case management, educational courses, and other assistance to clients staying at the WeHOPE Shelter. It is a 90-day program where clients work closely with a case manager to assess their situation and work towards a specific goal, such as saving money in a bank account, finding employment or finding permanent or supportive housing. Since launching the program in 2014, the program has helped 60 individuals successfully transition to a more permanent housing situation.
2. Dignity on Wheels Mobile Hygiene Outreach Program: Launched in 2015, Dignity on Wheels is an outreach program that takes a mobile shower and laundry trailer to various sites throughout San Mateo County and Santa Clara County. The program provides these free services for the homeless so they can go to their medical appointments, look for jobs or housing and even ride public transportation. In addition, Project WeHOPE is working with other organizations and the two Counties to help the homeless find services they need to transition off the streets, out of their vehicles or encampments.
3. H.O.P.E. Jobs: Launched in 2015, WeHOPE clients and the general public are invited to take part in this free opportunity to train and become certified in one of two industries: Security and Custodial Sanitation. Individuals will learn from experts and, upon successful completion of the course, receive industry-specific certificates enabling them to pursue hundreds of jobs throughout California.
4. Kids NOW: Healthy food, including fruits, vegetables and packaged items for families with children through age 18, provided weekly in partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank. The nutritious food helps to fill the gap on weekends for families whose children receive free meals at school.
Project WeHOPE uses CommitChange.com, an online fundraising platform specific for nonprofits, to complete donation transactions. CommitChange uses Stripe to process transactions. Thanks to them, we can do instant, streamlined, and free merchant account setups for nonprofits. Stripe takes a 2.2% + 30¢ fee on every credit or debit card transaction. CommitChange takes no cut of this fee.
